Justin Torres Reads At Dixon Place

This summer at Bread Loaf I met a few writers whose work really blew me away and Justin Torres was one of them. He read from a beautiful short story about two brothers who made trashbag kites and snuck out to fly them. Other things happened (I won’t say anymore than this about what it was about, in case he reads it again). I can still remember the story’s moments as I sit here and type this.

He’s a new talent, the real thing. In just a few minutes listening, I knew I’d pay attention anytime I saw his name on something.

He’s reading next Tuesday, Oct. 23rd, at Dixon Place. Doors open 7, the reading is at 7:30, and it’s all over by 8:30PM.  The poet Billy Merrell is also reading with him. Go check them out.
